This site is a mix of insights, lessons learned the hard way, and the occasional rant—because boring posts are boring.
What You’ll Find Here
I’ve spent years navigating marketing, entrepreneurship, analytics, and even music production. Some things worked out great, others… not so much. But every experience has shaped the way I think about business and creativity. If you’re looking for marketing advice, analytics tips, startup insights, or just some solid music recommendations—glad you’re here.
My (Slightly Winding) Career Path
I started in Silicon Valley, where an attempt to break into the music industry accidentally led me to startups, marketing, and analytics. Along the way, I learned how to translate between business and tech, which is an extremely useful skill.
Since then, I’ve built a unique career that involves — consulting at an art gallery in San Francisco, working in the fitness industry, writing and editing at a weekly in LA, and eventually returning to school to finish my graduate degree. However, the graduation celebration was cut short by the dismal economy in spring of 2009. I became an accidental entrepreneur, started an S-Corp and took a contract with a government agency. After seven years of working with e-commerce, government, education and startups, I took another turn into corporate. There I built a digital marketing and localization team responsible for global outreach. That gave me a crash course in the importance of backing assertions with analytics, strategy, and navigating big organizations. Now, I’m back in the entrepreneurial world, leading the WSU Center for Entrepreneurship, where I get to help students build their own paths.
Outside of Work
When I’m not working with future founders, I’m making music. Producing tracks keeps me creatively sharp, and there’s a surprising overlap between business and music—both require problem-solving, experimentation, and my temperamental favorite, risk-taking.
