Pretty Ugly World, an original single by p.m.warner

The song was inspired by passages from Marcus Aurelius’ Meditations. There is a section that begins with, “When you wake up in the morning, tell yourself: the people I deal with today will be meddling, ungrateful, arrogant, dishonest, jealous and surly. They are like this because they can’t tell good from evil. But I have seen the beauty of good, and the ugliness of evil, and have recognized that the wrongdoer has a nature related to my own – not of the same blood and birth, but the same mind, and possessing a share of the divine…” It’s worth a read and this post, How To Begin Each Day For Optimal Sanity on Medium has a few choice highlights.

Talking with a friend about the world we’re in today

Look outside, we cheat and lie, its wrong in every way

She calmly said to me that’s just the way it is

People can be good and bad but don’t start giving in

Well… this one is interesting. I’m not quite sure what to think so I’ll just post it for you to listen to and leave it at that. Lyrics are below. Listen to melodic dance music track: Only One

Pushed this to 132bpm and for dance music, it still takes a minute to get rolling. It also went a little longer than I planned. Please enjoy, and I always appreciate feedback. Mixing, mastering (and writing a good song) is challenging – haven’t figured it all out yet.
