Original SynthPop – “What Have I Become?”

Original synthpop is the term I fell on after listening to some music that reminded me of my own. I never know how to term what I make. One of the things you do learn is that marketing is important and very difficult. It’s not something I can do for myself. I do it for others, but I just can’t do it for myself!

Anyway, without further ado, may I present the latest track, “What Have I Become?”

Original Synthpop track “What Have I Become?”

Original synthpop track “What Have I Become?” is a reflection on feeling lost. Music for me is therapy and I know listening to it and connecting to other’s music helps me to get outside of my own thinking. I hope that the message, coupled with the beat are enjoyable.

Original SynthPop Track “What Have I Become?” Lyrics

when i ask what i’ve become

its a question for no one

    i only hope to understand

    because time will rewrite plans

while i’m searching on these roads (it’s a lonely way to go)

all i’m finding are more ghosts (they are haunting me )

i still don’t know just who I am (you really want to know)

still i try to understand (i’ve come this far alone)

    do you know the way

or can you hear a melody

    i feel it lingering

    but i can’t see a thing

maybe that’s how it’s supposed to be

    pray in dark silently

do you have to stay in tune (the band waits for your cue)

or today try something new (hope you’ll answer soon)

    can you find a way

    do you hear a melody

    i can feel everything

    can you hold me tightly

till the very end of time

    i only have memories

    until the last lights die

Original Synth Pop Song – “Look In Your Eyes”

On original synth pop song Look In Your Eyes – I first heard “Don’t bore us, get to the chorus!” from Joan Jett’s producer. If you want to skip right to the end chorus, usually the most sonically powerful part of a song, and in this case, probably is, go to 2:10. The vocals go up an octave and the urgency is at a much higher intensity than the rest of the track for sure.

Original synth pop song, “Look In Your Eyes.”

Original synth pop song Look In Your Eyes – as a songwriter, it is sometimes difficult to figure out the best way to get there. In this case it took a minute – or two – to finaly hot, but the build is justified. And overall, by ensuring the song is about three minutes long, I’m hoping not to ask too much of a new listener. Someone like Beyonce can take her time and folks will follow becasue they are already sold on her artistry. Unknown me, an original synth pop writer, doesn’t have the luxury of a long intro, bridges or other facets of songwriting that can be so satisfying, but ultimately, you have to earn your right to do them.

Original synth pop song “Look In Your Eyes” does get to the point, and it adheres to the KISS method of songwriting. I hope you enjoy.

Lyrics – Original Synth Pop “Look In Your Eyes”

    no I won’t look away

I’ll meet you where you stand

no I can’t give it up

    and everything we had

    No i can’t walk away

    feet melting into sand

    look me in the eye

    thought we had a plan

    we have history

    can’t throw it all away

oh well we’ve seen the world

    as it is anyway

there’s so much more to see

    we’re standing at the edge

    you and i can write

    our own symphony

Everytime I look in your eyes

I’m never sure what I’m gonna find

once you’ve let me into your universe

i know we’re not coming back to this world

And sometimes when we look at the sky

i feel the tears when you’re trying to fly

when the planets and stars all align

floating through space light years behind

    …light years behind…

    Lately — New Track, January 1, 2021

Lately – it’s been tough for lot of you. Especially those of you battling personal issues. I can relate. I also made the decision to reach out and it most likely saved my life. Listen to the song and see what you think. Leave comments below.

It’s been a year. Many are fighting personal battles. It’s never an easy time to deal with issues, but current times certainly don’t make it any easier. I wrote this song with a bit of personal experience infused into it. And as someone who has a hard time reaching out to others, I understand the difficulty of making that call. Connection is so important and sometimes a simple phone call can make a life-changing difference. Stay in touch with each other. You just never know, and, “it’s not too late for you.”

    Lately Lyrics

    it’s cold inside

and you need a little time

    the room is bare

    and no one’s there

    except demons you invite

    you’re lonely here

as you let the feelings drown

you say you won’t sell your soul

    even as you’re bowing down

    lately

you don’t know what you do

    lately

    you’re giving up on you

    what will you do

    when you start to realize

the freedom you thought held in hand

    is extinguishing the fire

    not sober now

    voices play a wicked game

    promising you all the world

    instead wrapping you in pain

    lately

you don’t know what you do

    lately

    you’re giving up on you

    lately

    before you fade away

you’ll wave the flag and break the chains you have around your cage

    and

it’s not too late for you

Hope you enjoyed the song and let’s do our best to be kind to one another. Leave a comment below.

“Hold the Line” Low-Key Dance Pop Single

Been meaning to post the latest dance pop single “Hold the Line’ for a while now. Don’t know why I held it back for so long.

    Oh well…

Hold the Line — Dance Pop Track

Don’t have a lot to say about this dance pop single. I like it, it was just difficult to bring forward and figure out where the tempo was. I say low-key because it finally feels that that’s where it landed. Everything else felt too fast. This feels almost laid back

Hold the Line – Dance Pop Single

    Lyrics

    you have to ask yourself

    what is there

so why do i keep trying

    it seems unfair

    i’m so tired now

    but i get up

what does this all mean now

    i don’t give up

    do you hide yourself

    with no one there

    believe in what you do

    when no one cares

    are you really here

    i can’t decide right now

if i should hold the line

if i have faith in you

    will you hold my hand

    will you prop me up

    through this trying time

we all need to get up (now)

    if somethings’ not right here

    we’ll move on

don’t give up on our dreams

    we play til dawn

  • Electronic Dance Pop “Massive”

Electronic dance pop original “Massive” was fun to make. Not easy, but fun.

Played it for someone, and she said, “Oh that sounds so… ’80s.” I certainly don’t try to reference a certain genre or time period in my music, but I am certainly influenced by what I call the great awakening of music in my life. In a time when American pop was stale and tired (to my ears anyway) New Order, Depeche Mode and so many others came along and completely turned my world upside down. It was so different than Bruce and Madonna. Wonderfully different.

So electronic dance pop can mean so many things to folks. I love the music made today, but I certainly can’t help that these first electronic bands that paved the way still don’t have sway over my creative approach. Anyway, here’s the song. I’d love for you to give it a listen.

    Electronic Dance Pop Original “Massive”

Is it possible to completely escape what you have heard when it comes to song creation? I don’t think so. I have to continue to listen to a lot of different artists and continue to learn from them. I certainly don’t want to always continue repeating something that has already been heard/done before.

The term electronic dance pop is limited, but for the sake of defining it for those who haven’t heard it before, I will continue to try to use words to describe music. Others can do this much, much better than me.

Again, I hope you enjoy and please feel free to get in touch with any questions. My email is here.

Electronic Dance Pop Original “Massive” Lyrics

(Before you fade away, before you become melody

    you’re gonna break my heart)
    it’s not a distant memory

    were captured from the start

    played our roles til epilogue

    a few acts fell apart
    projecting image on a screen

    for a theater of one

the last reel is a desert scene

where i’m choking on the dust

    you call cut…

before you drift away, before you become memories

    i need to say goodbye
before you break my heart before you light fire to our scenes

I hold you one last time

we lived inside a cinema the world a movie score

and before the credits start to roll

     you’re walking out the door
