Original dance single Quiet Now is a breakthrough from a production perspective. I prefer to use multiple instruments, which can become problematic when separating into their own spaces. You can easily get what is known as mud. And worst of all, vocals can get lost in the mix. The lyrics were important in this one (below) so I worked hard on making the vocals clear and understandable and keeping all the instruments in their own space. I really hope you enjoy. I think this is one of my best efforts ever.
I don’t know that there’s much to say about this original dance single. “Quiet Now” pretty much speaks for itself through the lyrics and instrumentation. I wanted to hold to my style and include a dance beat, but at the same time create a reflective mood, one that we might want to stay in a little longer.
Listen to original indie dance pop track #losing right here. We’ve all experienced some losing in our life. It’s part of the deal. And sometimes it makes no sense. SoundCloud below.
For those of you who like to know lyrics of this original indie dance pop song, they are below.
The track originated from one of those days where everything was going wrong and I had to stop and take an assessment of why. And you know what, sometimes there is a why, and sometimes there just isn’t. I realize my actions result in many of the issues (I create my own problems, I get it) BUT sometimes there is just randomness in how life chooses to roll, and I have to accept that. And it’s sometimes really disappointing. This whole post is becoming a little self indulgent, so I’ll stop there. Artwork is by me.
I hope you enjoy the song and connect with what it’s trying to say.
This original dance pop song took a while as I dug into some additional mixing and mastering techniques. The great thing is, I learned a lot and want to give a shout out to two really helpful producers you can find on Why Logic Pro Rules and Musician on a Mission. Both of these folks are great resources and I recommend them highly.
I remixed and re-uploaded the track because it failed the crappy car stereo test. (Lesson learned – don’t just rely on your home studio speakers). If for some reason, the track doesn’t load below, you can find it here.
NOTE: I have deleted again. Will re-upload when it is ready.
About the original dance pop song. (I’m not absolutely certain of the genre really.) The idea was sparked as I watched a documentary about how the sun will eventually give out and it got me thinking that we all have a last sunset in our lives and to cherish the moments we have when we realize that. I take pictures of sunsets all the time where I live as they are particularly spectacular — and I believe that anyone can appreciate the beauty of a sunset wherever they are.
I really hope you enjoy this original dance pop song – and I also hope you forgive my repeating the phrase incessantly. [The WordPress plugin tells me I need to do it.]
This new dance pop track Stand Up was a process! It was written as reminder that no matter how beaten down you feel (it happens a lot) it’s hard but so important to keep getting up and trying again. Even against the most impossible odds.
On a technical note, I have been learning more and more about mixing and mastering and still know it’s only the tip of the iceberg. In another post, I will share some things I have been learning and other great sources of information I’ve come across.
I hope you enjoy and please leave a comment below!
