Secrets — An Electronic Pop Track

Secrets was originally called “Do You Think” and is the first song to come to me in a dream. I immediately sketched it out and the rest fell into place pretty quickly.

    Secrets – p.m.warner

It seemed like an upbeat way to approach the idea of how secrets can actually harm us and how surprising it can be when something you thought was so terrrrrible is exposed to the light of day, and the judgement you expected doesn’t appear. It’s freeing and, you are definitely not the only one. Additionally, this is a perfect length for a pop song coming from an unknown, logging in at under 3 minutes. I enjoy a song that can get right to the point, especially when I am not familiar with the artist.

I don’t know that there is anything else that needs to be written about it. I just hope you enjoy and thank you for visiting!

    Secrets Lyrics

    Secrets

all i see is what’s here before me

and i’ll do my best – to understand

please know you can share your secrets

god knows it’s not an easy world

this life can often brand us

and sometimes we’ll see the scars

i don’t believe it needs to define you

they disappear when you’re in my arms

Do you think, do you think

    i want to get together

do you think do you think

    that I want you

do you think do you think I’ll hold you sunshine

do you think do you think…

    well it’s all true

tell me tell me tell me

do you know do you know

    we have both fought battles

do you know do you know I’ll be right here

do you see do you see I’d die now for you

will you share will you share your secrets with me

oh you’ve seen have you seen

    the life that we’ve had

do you know do you know that i’ve seen too much

do you think do you think that I’m naive and

do you know do you know you’re what i need

Do you think, do you think

    i want to get together

do you think, do you think

    that I want you

do you think do you think i’ll hold you sunshine

do you think do you think…

    well it’s all true

Dance Pop Song — End Of Yesterday

End of Yesterday — A Dance Pop Song

End of Yesterday is a new dance pop song. It is a brisk track acknowledging the past and embracing the present.

The past will always be there. Sometimes it’s hard to deal with, especially when alone or at night. This song is meant to shed light on those feelings and reveal them for what they are. It’s important to move on, but at the same time, without acknowledging some of the pain, it’s very hard to heal. I hope you enjoy the song. It is a good dance pop song that adheres to something I’ve always leaned into, “dancing with tears in my eyes” It isn’t an original idea – Ultravox came up with this a long time ago.

    End Of Yesterday — Lyrics

    End Of Yesterday

What you going to do now

    Have no way to know

    What tomorrow holds and

    Help me is it so

    I’ve got to go

What are you trying to say?

I know I’ve let you down

And you can say the same

    Where are we now?

What should be said or done

I don’t know what to say

    Guessing I’m the only one

    What is it now?

    The thoughts begin to flow

    The only thing I know

    I’m through with yesterday

    I’ll throw it all away

    Best to move along now

    Nothing else to say

    Feelings can’t be certain

And there’s nothing we could save

    Imagining

    That on another day

    Our liquid future builds

And I only think to say

    “How are you now

    I guess I’m doing fine

    The weather’s not too bad

    I’m thinking we’ll get rain

    I didn’t know

    How is that better life?”

    We better let this go

    I’m through with yesterday

    I’ve thrown it all away

    For a new slate

    I’ll do anything

The time has weakened pain now

But still don’t want to know

    What tomorrow holds and

    Hope it lets me go

    I’m feeling low

    With everything today

I know I let you down

But you could say the same

    It’s over now

    There’s nothing left to say

    Trying to be here

    Attention for today

    What happened then?

To thoughts that used to flow

    I didn’t think I’d say

    I’m through with yesterday

    I’ve thrown it all away

    For a new slate

    I’ll do anything

    I’m through with yesterday

    I’ve thrown it all away

    For a new day

    I’ll do anything

Original Dance Pop Song – Last Sunset

Original Dance Pop Song – Last Sunset

This original dance pop song took a while as I dug into some additional mixing and mastering techniques. The great thing is, I learned a lot and want to give a shout out to two really helpful producers you can find on Why Logic Pro Rules and Musician on a Mission. Both of these folks are great resources and I recommend them highly.

I remixed and re-uploaded the track because it failed the crappy car stereo test. (Lesson learned – don’t just rely on your home studio speakers). If for some reason, the track doesn’t load below, you can find it here.

NOTE: I have deleted again. Will re-upload when it is ready.

About the original dance pop song. (I’m not absolutely certain of the genre really.) The idea was sparked as I watched a documentary about how the sun will eventually give out and it got me thinking that we all have a last sunset in our lives and to cherish the moments we have when we realize that. I take pictures of sunsets all the time where I live as they are particularly spectacular — and I believe that anyone can appreciate the beauty of a sunset wherever they are.

I really hope you enjoy this original dance pop song – and I also hope you forgive my repeating the phrase incessantly. [The WordPress plugin tells me I need to do it.]

LYRICS — LAst Sunset — An Original Dance Pop Song

    No such thing as tomorrow

    There’s nothing left to say

    We’re drifting in the silence

    And waiting on the day

    Not ready for an ending

    It wasn’t overlooked

    These changes happen quickly

We tried the best we could

Well I can only smile now

At the silence of our past

    But everything’s forgiven

We thought it would all last

It’s time to take a deep breath

    As I try to understand

    The time we had together

Was the best I ever had

As we sit here by the ocean

    Watching stars fall into sea

Don’t know what we’ve set in motion

Is this the last sunset we’ll see?

It’s time to say goodbye now

Didn’t know it’d be so hard

We’re watching the world shut down

    The earth beneath us scarred

    I’m over being hopeful

    And trying to begin

    Accepting it’s all over

That the world’s at an end

As we sit here by the ocean

Falling stars from sea to sea

Don’t know what we’ve set in motion

Is this the last sunset we’ll see?

Well As we sit here by the ocean

    While stars fall into sea

    I can only feel devotion

    To the memories we keep

As we sit-here by the ocean

    Watching tears fall into sea

When everything it feels so broken

Is this the last song that we’ll sing

As we sit here by the ocean

    Watching stars fall into sea

Don’t know what we’ve set in motion

The last sunset we’ll ever see

Original Dance Pop Track: Stand Up

Stand Up – an original dance pop track

This new dance pop track Stand Up was a process! It was written as reminder that no matter how beaten down you feel (it happens a lot) it’s hard but so important to keep getting up and trying again. Even against the most impossible odds.

On a technical note, I have been learning more and more about mixing and mastering and still know it’s only the tip of the iceberg. In another post, I will share some things I have been learning and other great sources of information I’ve come across.

I hope you enjoy and please leave a comment below!

    LYRICS

Lyrics for “Stand Up,” an original, dance pop track:

    Stand up where you are

    Keep reaching for the stars

You know it feels so right

    You’re fighting for your life

    Here you are

    Feeling down

Feeling like you’re about to drown

    Remembering

    Where you were

    What happened to the future?

    Held in place

    It’s no good

    Without a past misunderstood

    Questioning

    Your place here

It’s so hard to live in fear

    We all want

    To play again

To dance on beaches in the sun

    It’s all right

    To be afraid

But not ok to give up again

    Ok now

So stand up where you are

    We have to start somewhere

    Not going down alone

    You’re breaking out of here

    You feel trapped

    And starting now

    Remembering the cave and how

    Time to say

    No more pain

    Breaking out of molded shame

    And here you are

    Who are you?

This is what you’re meant to do

    You have strength

    To break away

And never fall back here again

    This is what

    You have to do

    Don’t stop now

    Cause lights in you

    It’s OK to be afraid

    Moving forward into change

    OK now

So stand up where you are

    Never say too far

    You’re standing on your feet

    And listening to the beat

So Stand up where you are

    It’ll never be too far

    You’re standing up right now

Keep the vision in your heart

    You’re frozen

    Frozen in this place

    You’re frozen

    Froze in outer space

    Stand up where you are

    Never give up the stars

    When you’ve fallen down

    Get up off the ground

    Rise up where you are

    You’ve brought yourself this far

    You’re moving with the beat

    And dancing in the heat

    Stand up where you are

    Keep reaching for the stars

You know it feels so right

    You’re fighting for your life

  • Original Pop Song: Why Can’t We

Original Pop Song: Why Can’t We

Original pop song Why Can’t We asks a question—can we change our course of tragic violence or will we continue to look the other way?

Writing this during the holiday season of celebrations, I thought of all those who couldn’t be with their friends and family anymore. It’s unacceptable that gun violence is a common occurrence and I hope we all can effect change.

    Why Can’t We

    Lyrics:

    Why Can’t We

    Wakes up to new elation

    Runs fingers through her hair

Then quickly scrolls through texts and

Snaps an IG in the mirror

    Now walking to the classroom

    She hears them droning on

They turn around to smile but…

    She feels like something’s wrong

    Then sudden shouts explosions

    Thick gunfire punches through

When the fury dies and smoke clears

    There’s countless lying still

On a bright and sunlit morning

    She draws her final breath

Lets go of a note in silence

And this is all it said:

    Why can’t we

    Do anything

    Why can’t we

    Hear their screams

    Only a few days later

    Their memories fade away

    Forgotten ‘til the next time

Like the crumpled note that read:

    Why can’t we

    End a fucking thing

    Why can’t we

    Listen to the screams

    Why can’t we

    (Except count the dead)

    End a fucking thing

    (Look the other way instead)

    Why can’t we

    (Except count the dead)

    Whispers to a scream

    (Look the other way instead)

Oh we can count the dead

    Look the other way instead

Oh we can count the dead

And look the other way instead
